Our mission is to provide an environment where each child grows up with a deep appreciation of peace and an ability to work with others to create peace; where each child is valued for the unique being they are, their culture, and their identity, and that they equally value others; where each child knows that they have a place in the world and that they are part of many systems that rely on their contributions.” - Jen Stoll, Owner & Director

Clay-Platte Montessori School was founded in 1966 and has been at its current location since 1974. We are the only Montessori school in the Kansas City area that offers programs beginning at 18 months and continuing on through high school. Concepts learned in the early years are built upon and carry through to complex learning.

Our school is situated on a beautiful 10-acre wooded area. Exploring nature and its inhabitants amidst a meandering creek, open meadows, and wooded trails are favorite activities of our students. Nature is an important component of the Montessori philosophy, and our campus was designed specifically to embrace this need.

II.

Peace & Diversity

Students and their families are vital members of our school community. We provide a supportive environment, in which every student is valued for their special and unique qualities. Cultural differences are celebrated. Our staff and our families are a representation of our world. Bangladesh, India, Russia, and Ethiopia are just a few of the countries represented in our school community.

III.

Well Established

Our main building was built in the early 70s specifically as a Montessori school—and has maintained its unique, beautiful design. Many of our staff and teachers have been with us for years. We enjoy a strong relationship with our alumni and are thrilled to have so many second generation children joining our school community.

IV.

One With Nature

Our school is situated on a beautiful 10-acre wooded area. The children’ s classrooms are literally indoors and outdoors. Exploring nature and its inhabitants amidst a meandering creek, open meadows, and wooded trails are favorite activities of our students. Nature is an important component of the Montessori philosophy, and our campus was designed specifically to embrace this need.

We ensure that our classrooms have well-qualified, AMI certified individuals and are well-equipped with all the Montessori didactic materials.
